Octavian Jighirgiu is an actor, director, and an associate professor with a PhD in Theatre. He has played more than 60 roles on national stages and abroad, he directed more than 35 shows in theaters and in non-conventional spaces throughout the country and toured in Austria, Germany, France, England, the USA, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Egypt, Spain, Poland and several cities in Romania. Among the awardshe obtained: April 1995 – Student Theatre Festival in Sibiu; April 1996 – “First Role” Festival in Iasi; March 1997 – UNITER Award for Best Theater School Production; October 2007 – National Comedy Festival from Galaţi; May 2013 – “Euroinvent” at “Alexanru Ioan Cuza” University, Iasi; September 2016 – “Opera Fringe Festival” in Bucharest; August 2018 – “Undercloud” International Festival of Independent Theater in Bucharest.
He currently holds the position of Vice-Rector of the “George Enescu” National University of Arts and is the President of ARTES association in Iași. Within the Theatre Doctoral School, he focuses on Directing and Actor’s Art.
